This past month I had the opportunity to moderate forums with both candidates running for Governor of Colorado right here in Douglas County.

Last weekend was Senator Michael Bennet. The conversation covered water, housing costs, affordability and what leadership in Colorado actually looks like over the next four years. Douglas County had a seat at that table.

Happy National Teachers Appreciation week to every educator who shows up for their students.

My grandmother was a teacher at High Island, a small school in Texas. She told me about the lives she impacted, and how she even worked with special education students at a time when the research to support them barely existed. She figured it out through patience and love. One of her students focused better with computer headphones on his head, unplugged, just the weight and the feeling of them. She noticed. She adapted. That is what great teachers do.

She eventually taught me too. Not in a classroom but in how she lived. She showed me that you can love people deeply across political differences. Growing up in a Republican household and leaning Democrat as an adult did not divide my family. It strengthened us. She is a big reason why.

She’s also my biggest supporter, my very first donor, and my weekly call to chat about what this campaign is accomplishing.

That is the kind of representation HD39 deserves. Someone who was taught that disagreement does not have to mean division.

Did you know residents of Lone Tree receive water service from three different districts, depending on your location within the city? This means the restrictions and guidelines regarding the property type, the number of days you can water, and which days you can water may differ depending on the district even though you are within the same city of Lone Tree ‼️
